**Our group**
Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination (PRVC) group is responsible for leading key policy reform and programs across the Department of Justice and Community Safety. It enhances community safety and wellbeing through public policy, governance, legislative advice, reform and grants, bringing together all policy and reform functions aligned to the Police, Crime Prevention, Victims and Racing portfolios.
Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs (MSPRP) sits within PRVC and comprises several business units including Policy Reform and Programs; Ministerial Services and Coordination; and Redress Design.
**Our business unit - Policy Reform and Programs**
Policy Reform and Programs (PRP) leads and partners on cross-cutting initiatives that join up services to improve outcomes, transform the justice system to reduce risk and ensure responsiveness, and build on place-based strengths and opportunities.
PRP delivers priority justice policy reforms and provides critical departmental, Ministerial and cross-portfolio policy advice, project delivery and coordination in line government priorities. Specifically, it leads on crime prevention, family violence and harm reduction reforms. PRP teams work in a dynamic environment, requiring agility and responsiveness to key priorities as they arise.
**The Policy Officer roles**
As the Policy Officer, you will work closely with the Manager and other team members, including across PRP, to help develop and progress sound policy and strategic advice to senior department executives on priority justice policy issues.
You will work with the Senior Manager and/or Manager and Senior Policy Officers in the team to contribute to a range of policies and project specific work. This may include briefing products, development of budget bids, coordination, and secretariat support.
**Roles are available within three teams**
Three Policy Officer roles are available across three teams.
**Applicants are welcome to express a preference for particular teams or for being considered for all roles.**
- The **Crime Prevention, Place and Partnerships team** is responsible for the department's approach to community safety and crime prevention policy. It provides advice on place-based service design and supports engagement with regional and community partners. It leads policy work to support early intervention programs to address youth offending, Local Site Executive Committees to develop local solutions to improve outcomes for young people, and the Landmark Perpetrator Study to inform better interventions for perpetrators of family violence.
- The **Justice Response and System Reform team** leads on priority government policy reforms and projects that focus on harm minimisation and prevention priorities. Currently, this includes supporting justice system implementation of the Public Intoxication Reform, the Mental Health Crisis Reforms, and the family violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) and Information Sharing Frameworks alongside other related family violence reform priorities.
- The **Violence Prevention and Safety Policy team** leads policy development and implementation planning for family and sexual violence reform priorities, working closely with related teams across Policy Reform and Programs, and with partners from across DJCS and other government departments and agencies.
