**About us**

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. **About the role**

The Policy Officer role sits within the Consumer Housing team in Regulation Policy. The role will support the delivery of rental reforms and Housing Statement initiatives. It will contribute to research and policy work to provide advice and support to the Minister and DGS Executives on a range of policy proposals, programs and initiatives within the Consumer Affairs portfolio.

The Policy Officer provides critical analysis and input to Cabinet processes and major DGS reforms from a Consumer Affairs perspective. Requires sound communication and interpersonal skills in order to liaise across DGS and with stakeholders and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision. The position contributes to a supportive high performing team culture, assisting colleagues and managers.

**About you**

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Demonstrated experience in developing or supporting the development of policy and/or regulations or legislation
- Demonstrated experience in preparing authorative advice to Ministers and executives on policy matters
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government operating environment including understanding of Cabinet processes
- Knowledge of current policy direction, research and issues with the Consumer Affairs portfolio, or the ability to understand these issues quickly.
- Strong writing skills with a dedication to clear and concise communication.
