Full Time Opportunity
We are looking for an Engineering Manager (EM) to lead a team of Engineers in delivering high-quality software solutions that provide value to both our customers and the business.
As an EM, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and operational efficiency.
In partnership with a Product Manager, you’ll set the direction for your team, drive successful delivery outcomes, and leverage your technical expertise to guide the team when necessary. Your focus will be on people, technical leadership, and ensuring the health and availability of production systems.
Additionally, you will mentor and guide Associate Engineering Managers, ensuring consistent leadership development across the team.
**Key responsibilities of the role include**:
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of solutions, ensuring quality and alignment with strategies and standards
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term strategic initiatives, including technology modernisation.
- Collaborate with the wider EM leadership team and Product Owner to drive and execute a roadmap aligned to business goals
- Contribute to technical strategy and foster engineering standards and best practices.
- Ensure technical excellence through code reviews and staying updated with industry trends
- Provide feedback, mentor and lead the development of a high-performing engineering team
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality standards
What are we looking for?
**Technical**:
- Typically 7+ years experience in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role tackling people, operational excellence and delivery challenges.
- Strong technical background with expertise in modern software development practices, tools, and technologies. Ideally experience with a variety of technology stacks and programming languages.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within scope.
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and architectures, specifically AWS and microservices
- Good understanding of database technologies.
- Experience working with various tools to design, orchestrate, test, build, release & monitor your work.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
**Ways of Working**:
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and processes, e.g. Scrum, Kanban
- Experience with employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD and pair programming.
- Sound knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Prior involvement with production support / incident response beneficial.
- Knowledge of good Application Security practices.
