**The Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Category Manager / Buyer to join us as a Category Manager - Everyday & Home. You will be managing the Baby strategy whilst coaching, mentor and develop a team.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Category Management - build a range, pricing and channel plan in line with the option plan.
- Leading a team to develop both national brands as well as developing an exclusive own brand range that is a point of difference and a reason why customers shop at Big W.
- Strategic planning of the overall Category strategy
- Own supplier relationships and optimise supplier portfolio in category, joint business planning and negotiate trading terms with suppliers, ensuring the financial targets are met
- Partner with marketing, design, planning, replenishment and retail operations to get the best range into the market and executed in a way that increases market share
- Coach, mentor and support the team
**About You
To be successful in this role and thrive in our high performing and innovative culture, you will have a balance of commercial and strategic capability to lead and coach a team, leveraging collaborative ways of working to help realise BIG W’s ambition of becoming a digitally led retailer that is a customer first and team first that lives our purpose every day.
In addition, you will have:
- Previous experience in a category management role, ideally with a general merchandise focus
- Leadership and coaching experience, with exposure to managing through significant periods of change
- Team player, who is able to deliver innovative and creative solutions for customers and teams
