The Infrastructure Tribe at ING Australia provides infrastructure products and services that enable the entire organisation to be successful. Within the tribe, Platform Engineering provides a critical set of services across three major disciplines, Linux, Windows Server, and SQL Database. The Database team manage Microsoft SQL Server clusters & instances

This is a newly created leadership role within Platform Engineering for the Infrastructure Tribe, designed to provide accountability for the management of the related services and support in a devops & agile working environment. The role calls for strategy and direction of the Infrastructure roadmap for ING Australia’s database practice and input into overall Tech strategy.

You’ll be accountable for the E2E delivery methodology in the tribe includes people management, delivery, strategy and system maintenance. Be part of a supportive and dynamic team, delivering innovative products, which are at the forefront of digital banking in Australia.

**What are you going to do? You will **
- Be accountable for team leadership and people development
- Cultivate the orange code and a culture of innovation and continues improvement. Enable self-service, automation, reduce manual work and improve engineering throughput.
- Lead by example and coach team members in creating and automating infrastructure build, test and deployment.

**What are we looking for? Someone who has**
- Experience establishing and driving the strategic vision of a database practice.
- Previous people management experience, including 2-3 years of people leadership within a fast paced, highly available 24/7, critical system environment.
- Proficient in building and supporting a SQL Server or SQL as a Service Infrastructure in a Microsoft Private Cloud infrastructure
- Experience in supporting large development teams covering database provisioning and data/query optimisation
- Ability to operate and provide technical leadership in ambiguous situations
