Strategic Approvals Manager

In this role you will lead and manage a team to secure and maintain strategic approvals to enable exploration and production activities. This will include petroleum tenures and co-development agreements, project approvals, environmental approvals and offsets, native title and cultural heritage agreements and Underground Water Impact Report obligations.

You will also be responsible for coaching, mentoring, developing and empowering the team to maximise engagement and performance.

The role in more detail:

- Lead the team to identify and deliver tenure grants, co-development agreements, project approvals, environmental approvals and offsets, UWIR obligations and the Native Title and cultural heritage agreements required for exploration and production activities,
- Develop and implement relevant strategies and plans to ensure IG can achieve its strategic objectives.
- Identify and influence regulatory reform and practices to achieve IG business value (for example, to reduce approval timeframes, and drive simplification, standardisation and efficiency in meeting regulatory obligations).
- Drive the delivery of Non-operated and Exploration Asset business objectives, including by utilising agile ways of working and management tools to ensure target state, current status and any need for intervention is visible to, and actioned by, project team members.
- Manage tenure, environment, groundwater and Native Title and cultural heritage compliance with obligations and commitments to ensure there is no unplanned loss of acreage, financial penalties, legal exposure or reputational damage.
- Manage IG’s relationships with key regulators and other external stakeholders.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you will come with demonstrated senior leadership skills and experience, with the ability to motivate people towards a vision, engage them to deliver, and establish strong business discipline and governance.

MORE ABOUT YOU:

- Expert knowledge (mastery level) and experience of either major project approvals (including EIS processes), tenure administration, land access and/ or environmental approvals in the petroleum & gas, mining or heavy industry sector (gained on the industry or government side).
- Demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders, develop productive relationships, negotiate and influence.
- Results orientated, with demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing fit for purpose systems and processes to deliver compliance obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence regulatory reform processes.
