**St Vincent’s Healthcare Clinical Campus at UNSW**
The St Vincent’s Healthcare Clinical Campus in Darlinghurst encompasses the clinical facilities of St Vincent’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, St Vincent’s Clinic and co-located medical research institutes and facilities. These include the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research. The campus allows students and staff to thrive in an atmosphere of dedication and excellence with state-of-the-art clinical skills, information and computing resources on site.
**Details of the role**
This position will provide technical and research assistance to the Mechanical Circulatory Support Research Laboratory (MCSRL) within the St Vincent’s Centre of Applied Medical Research. The research assistant will be responsible for developing and conducting research experiments on mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices, primarily with research involving the BiVACOR Total Artificial Heart. They will also be responsible for writing monthly reports and attending meetings to provide updates on the research. In addition, they are required to ensure the research complies with the NHMRC guidelines and International Conference on Harmonisation - Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP), Australian regulations and privacy laws.
**Some key skills required**:
- Holds relevant undergraduate medical science/ physiology/ medical engineering qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting a research project, and knowledge of HREC and RGO submissions.
- Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability working in a multidisciplinary team and ability to use own initiative.
- Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated computing skills including word processing (MS word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and statistical analysis packages.
- Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
