This Victorian State Government Department is currently seeking an experienced Category Manager to manage their security contract and suppliers. This Contract focuses on security services, including static guarding, patrolling, mail scanning and alarm response.

**Key accountabilities**
- Lead the end-to-end category management activities across a broad range of goods and services categories to ensure that optimum procurement outcomes are achieved.
- Lead whole of Victorian government sourcing projects including requirements gathering, business case development, tender preparation, evaluation, supplier negotiation and implementation whilst collaboratively engaging with key stakeholders to deliver effective procurement outcomes.
- Utilise a comprehensive contract management and risk management framework to manage the State's commercial and contractual risks associated with the delivery of the State Purchasing Contract (SPC)
- Participate in the monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators and other service level outcomes contemplated in SPCs
- Develop effective and collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including senior management, departmental colleagues, Chief Procurement Officers and other key staff from government departments, suppliers and industry bodies
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities to provide innovative and effective approaches to procurement practices in order for the department to deliver excellent procurement outcomes
- Responsible for demonstrating leadership across the team which may include direct leadership of a team where you will be expected to inspire and increase the capability of the team members in facilitating and developing procurement practice and data analytics.
- Participates in strategic planning and decision making and identifies and responds to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment.
- Provide support to the Strategic Sourcing Group and the department on a range of matters as required.
- Act as a representative in meetings, forums and events involving senior Government and industry representatives.

**Key selection criteria**
- Recognised procurement professional with expert knowledge in undertaking sourcing events for strategic engagements including leading complex negotiations to drive effective procurement outcomes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and build collaborative and effective relationships
- High level analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to deliver innovative solutions to resolve complex problems.

**Experience and qualifications**
- Tertiary qualification in related discipline, and/or significant experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of Victorian Government procurement policies will be highly regarded.
