**About the Business Unit**:
Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex is a medium security facility that houses a mix of sentenced and remand men and is located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The role of the facility is to contain men in custody safely, securely and humanely, focusing on the individual needs of the men with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system. The facility has a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes and provides a range of engaged services. Our highly skilled workforce provides supervision and case management and are dedicated to enhancing opportunities to strengthen prisoner pathways.
**About the Role**:
The role of the Vocational Services Team is to prepare prisoners for release and to enhance post release employment opportunities through integrated on the job training, targeted educational opportunities and personal development programs and activities.
Some of your duties will include:
- Participating in the development, coordination and delivery of effective vocational programs in alignment with the identified 7 Critical Intervention Domains
- Assessing prisoners for suitability for programs
- Assisting the Coordinator in the evaluation of prisoner programs according to current correctional philosophies, legislative requirements, prison policies and correctional standards.

**About You**:
- Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in the welfare service area
- Demonstrated understanding of transition issues and needs of prisoners
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a prison setting
- Demonstrated capacity and aptitude to work with clients who are difficult to engage individually and in group work settings.
- Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills including negotiation and communication and
- An ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with external agencies, custodial and non
- custodial staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a Correctional environment and demonstrated absence of a relevant offence history.
