About This Role: The Program Facilitator forms part of the multi-disciplinary Offender Services team, responsible for development, co-ordination and delivery of a range of programs across specialist portfolios including transition and reintegration, family engagement, disability, diversity and complex care. The role co-ordinates and delivers programs addressing rehabilitation needs of remand and sentenced cohorts, providing support, guidance and motivation to participants to ensure engagement, positive behaviour change and life skills development. The position contributes to the delivery of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway and participates in case-planning and case-management as required. The role also supports embedding a positive pro-social environment and a connected, multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation.
Key Duties- Contribute to the development, co-ordination and delivery of a range of offence-related programs.
- Assess suitability and eligibility for program participation and align program activity to individual case plan goals.
- Provide appropriate support, guidance and motivation to people in care; encourage program participation, engagement with program content and the development of life skills.
Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focused on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. It features multi-purpose infrastructure adaptable to evolving needs and includes medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. Western Plains uses a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care and has advanced technology to improve security, streamline operations and enhance connections for people in our care. Service teams include Workforce and Prison Services, Communities, and Safety and Operational Service, delivering services for people in our care, safety management and corporate services.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of rehabilitation needs and issues experienced by people in custody.
- Experience in coordinating and facilitating programs, preferably within a rehabilitation or social services field.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals who are difficult to engage, both one-on-one and in group settings.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse cohorts, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Relevant training, certification and/or qualification is desirable.
