What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of National Coordinator Forensic Accounting
The AFP-led Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce (CACT) seeks to deprive persons and criminal groups of the proceeds, instruments and benefits of their offending, and to undermine the profitability of criminal enterprises. The CACT brings together expertise in investigations, litigation, intelligence, forensic accounting, legal policy and other specialist resources from key partner agencies, including the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), Australian Border Force (ABF) and Australian Transaction Analysis and Reporting Centre (AUSTRAC). The aim of the taskforce is to enhance the identification of criminal assets and benefits derived from crime, and to pursue their confiscation.
The Criminal Assets Investigation (CAI) teams investigate Commonwealth proceeds of crime (POC) matters and work closely with the Criminal Assets Litigation (CAL) team; which forms the Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce (CACT). CAI members support CAL through the POC litigation process under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA).
You will work under the strategic direction of the senior executive and are responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams to deliver outcomes. They require in depth knowledge and understanding of the AFP business and the impact of roles and functions undertaken in relation to the organisation’s reputation to effectively manage operations.
As an Executive Level AFP appointee you will ensure the achievement of outcomes are in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. Appointees at the Executive Level work under the strategic direction of the senior executive and are responsible for the leadership and management of a number of teams to deliver outcomes.
What will you do?
The National Coordinator Forensic Accounting is responsible for leading and managing the CACT forensic accounting members and includes:
Provide Executive level leadership and management that ensures the delivery of efficient and effective forensic accounting services to the AFP;
Manage and coordinate the forensic accounting capability including human and financial resources, and workforce planning and review, to align with organisational priorities;
Represent the CACT forensic accounting cohort to AFP Executive and other agencies to raise, negotiate and resolve operational and strategic issues;
Ensure the contribution, performance, purpose and capability of CACT forensic accounting cohort are defined, promoted and valued as contributing to the AFP;
Ensure nationally consistent standards within the forensic accounting capability and provide technical advice, feedback, guidance and support to CACT forensic accountant members, reflected within performance agreements;
Oversee and contribute to CACT forensic accountant member compliance with accounting standards, court rules and regulations minimising AFP organisational and investigational risk by appropriate quality control mechanisms;
Directing the development and implementation of policy and standards to support the business and service level requirements of CACT forensic accounting.
