**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for several Parliamentary Service Level 3 Parliamentary Security Operations Room (PSOR) Operators within the Security Operations Branch. Reporting to the Parliamentary Security Operations Room (PSOR) Manager, the control room operator is responsible for access control, operating security and emergency management systems, responding to potential incidents and assisting with the coordination of resources for the provision of a safer and secure physical environment at the Australian Parliament House (APH).

Security Division is responsible for the provision of security services, including daily operational security, policy management, building security, parking services, visitor access, security risk management, resilience planning and emergency management. Security Division works in partnership with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to ensure the safety and security of Australian Parliament House (APH) occupants and visitors.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Previous experience working in a control room environment, including monitoring CCTV and managing electronic access control arrangements is desirable.
- Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating roster.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
- Complete an intensive training program, including Operational Safety Training, to a satisfactory standard.
- Obtain and maintain a First Aid Certificate.
- Complete annual refresher training on operational safety and first response emergency procedures.

- Complete a cardio test
- Do 10 pushups
- Do 20 sit ups
- Drag a 50kg dummy for 20m
- Hand grip test.

**Immediate supervisor**:Parliamentary Security Operations Room (PSOR) Manager

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 3 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Operation of the full range of security systems including monitoring Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), the use of access control systems, alarms, fault reporting and emergency systems.
- Under direction, conduct virtual patrols of the building to ensure a safe and secure environment is maintained.
- Monitor and escalate potential security risks or incidents which may impact the safety and security of APH while completing detailed reports.
- Control, monitor and respond through the radio communication systems while responding to customer telephone enquiries and reports.
- Support the Parliamentary Security Service and Australian Federal Police in the response to emergency and security incidents.
- Comply with APH Security policies and procedures, including the CCTV and Electronic Access Control System (EACS) Codes of Practice.
- Undertake incident monitoring and prepare clear and concise incident reports for management review.
- Maintain core competencies of training to stay validated as a PSOR operator.
- Other duties as requested.
