Electorate Officer/Office Manager (Grade 3)

We are seeking a highly motivated, personable and organised individual to join Ryan's electorate team.
About the Role
Ryan Batchelor is a Labor MP for the Southern Metropolitan region in the Victorian Parliament's upper house. He is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Electorate Officer to join to the team to help manage the office and play a senior role in delivering for the community.
Based in the Member of Parliament's electorate office located in Bentleigh, you will interact daily with constituents, community organisations and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities may include:

- General administration and office management
- Helping constituents with a range of issues
- Developing stakeholder relationships with community groups
- Diary, office and budget management
- Managing communications across a range of channels, including social media and printed materials
- Assisting with Parliamentary duties, including policy development and research.

Electorate Officers play an important role serving the Victorian community. Reporting to the Member of Parliament that nominates you, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is also a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community.

This role as an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate:

- Experience working in electoral, community or political environments, an understanding of an ever-changing external policy and political context and the ability to provide strategic advice.
- High level organisational skills, particularly in setting priorities and work practices, and both supervising and performing a broad range of duties, often to tight and demanding deadlines.
- The ability to work independently, be self-motivated and with a demonstrated ability to get things done, with personal resilience and adaptability.
- High level written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to undertake complex research, investigations and draft reports, submissions, and complex correspondence.
- The ability to respect and maintain confidentiality on all issues associated with the office, the member and your role.
- An understanding and ability to provide advice and guidance on government and parliamentary processes. 
- Knowledge of media and communications, including social media and printed and written communications.
- High level stakeholder engagement skills and proven ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders from government and peak organisations to local community organisations and constituents. 
- Experiencing in working in a team and demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage others.
- Behaviours consistent with Electorate Officer values and Code of Conduct, including the ability to display high levels of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, and respect in relationships with others and decision making.

Salary and hours of work
Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021.
**Grade 3**: $93,562 per annum plus 11% employer superannuation.
The position is full time, with the occasional need to work additional hours, to participate in for example community events with MP.
A six-month probationary period will apply.

While Members of Parliament are prohibited from determining that an Electorate Officer can or must perform work that is party specific, Members typically nominate Electorate Officer whose political beliefs are closely aligned with their own. Section 27 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 states that an employer may discriminate on the basis of political belief or activity in the offering of employment to an Electorate Officer.

The Department of Parliamentary Services supports all Members of Parliament in the recruitment and selection process of Electorate Officers. You will receive communications throughout the process from the Department.
