Disability Support Work involves assisting a range of clients with a variety of needs in a number of different ways.
**The Organisation**
My Supports is a leading NDIS support provider, founded and led by people with disabilities. Serving almost 2,000 clients across Australia, we are a rapidly evolving, peer-led organization committed to making a difference. With over 70% of our employees having either a disabilities or significant lived experience as a carer, we deliver quality, individualized support through our Neighbourhood Teams, leveraging local knowledge and connections.
**The Role**
Working in Neighbourhood Teams in your very own community, under the direction of a Neighbourhood Team Leader, the Support Worker assists and supports our clients, in line with their NDIS plan, to achieve their goals through a person-centred approach of ‘choice and control’.
**Day to day duties may include (but are not limited to)**
- Assisting clients to complete and/or develop life-skills in household duties and yard/home maintenance, such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting etc;
- Transporting clients to appointments and/or shopping for and/or with client;
- Assisting clients in building client self-image and self-confidence;
- Assisting clients in social and community participation;
- Promoting independence and well-being;
- Assisting clients with personal care and manual handling; including showering and bowel care;
- Medical administration (if qualified);
- Administration, e.g. daily journal reporting;
- Working within the NDIS guidelines and escalate relevant information to Team Leaders.
- An enthusiastic outlook, and a very open, friendly, bubbly personality;
- A compassionate and empathetic demeanour;
- Strong listening and oral communication skills and patience;
- Strong relationship-building skills;
- The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries;
- Experience with Personal Care (Preferred but not essential)
**Location & Benefits**
The locations for work will vary depending on the client(s) and their needs within the area. We are currently recruiting for the Highgate **(QLD) region surrounding suburbs.** It is an exciting time to join My Supports, on a casual basis.
