**ABOUT THE BRANCH**
The Legal and Assurance Branch (LAB) partners with business areas in the Department of Finance to provide high quality legal, governance and assurance services.
LAB comprises three core teams:
- **Assurance & Risk** responsible for financial governance, enterprise risk management, internal and external audit liaison, fraud control and insurance liaison. The team also supports the Risk Sub-committee of Executive Board and the independent Audit Committee.
- **Administrative & Public Law** responsible for providing strategic legal advice on statutory interpretation and administrative law matters, and coordinating privacy, FOI and the legislation program for Finance.
- **Commercial Law **is responsible for providing strategic commercial and corporate legal advice across a wide range of activities of the department, including the procurement of legal services through the new whole of government arrangements, contract negotiation and dispute resolution, and management of some commercial litigation.

**OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking motivated individuals with strong analytical and communication skills to join our Assurance and Risk team, and work within our enterprise risk program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting quarterly reporting activities, which may include identifying Departmental priorities and key risks, preparation of information packs and dashboard reporting for consultation with Deputy Secretaries, heads of division’s and relevant governance committees
- Providing support to the Assistant Director Assurance and Risk with the management of internal working groups and forums, including developing meeting content, engagement activities and meeting notes
- Providing advice and information to the Department’s Performance and Risk Committee as well as the Audit Committee, including preparation of committee meeting papers
- Supporting administration of the team including developing innovative solutions to problems, implementing new ideas and engaging with stakeholders across the department
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of internal artefacts, such as annual program plans and strategies as well as standard operating procedures
- Assisting with other team responsibilities from time to time.
