**About the Company**

WHSmith is an historic British retailer focusing on news, books and convenience, and is a renowned, competitive leader in the travel market worldwide. Our Australian operations, under which 7 brands currently operate, are rapidly expanding and since WHSmith is expected to continue this growth, we are looking for an experienced AP/AR Manager to join us on this journey.

**About the role**

Reporting to Senior Financial Accountant, you will be the leader of a team of AP/AR officers, responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions.

Lead and contribute to the standardisation of accounts payable and receivable processes to deliver seamless transaction services whilst ensuring compliance with financial obligations and controls.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Lead and mentor team to deliver continuous improvement, including identifying process performance issues and recommending and implementing new solutions.
- Manage invoices and other accounts payable documentation, check and confirm liability for payment.
- All aspects of EOM close relating to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and reporting thereof to senior Finance Team members.
- Obtain authorisations for payment in accordance with standard procedures and allocate expenditure to correct account.
- Summarise payments and arrange for payment.
- Hold relationships between debtors and creditors to enhance credibility and service environment.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 8 years in accounting support functions
- Strong knowledge of AP and AR processes
- Proficiency in data entry and strong attention to detail
- People Management experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
