**Who are we looking for?**

We are seeking a HSE Research and Technical Partner to join Health, Safety and Environment, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The HSE Research and Technical Partner provides leadership and strategy, and will be responsible for, and oversee the QUT’s Chemical including Medicines and Poisons, Laser and Radiation policies, procedures and relevant approval and reporting systems to ensure the health, safety and protection of our people, our community and the environment. This includes providing quality expert advice as required to stakeholders at QUT campuses and managed distributed sites. This includes providing advice on governance frameworks and relevant infrastructure and systems regarding chemical, laser and radiation.

**About the area**

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio of Student Services and Wellbeing delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.

Student Services and Wellbeing consists of the following departments: Student Administration, HiQ, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit and Human Resources.

**What you need to succeed**

1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in occupational hygiene, chemical management, health and safety or environment or related discipline, combined with a minimum of five years’ experience in a HSE related role or leadership role within a large complex organisation.
3. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills to effectively present, connect and liaise with management, staff and students on complex, sensitive or controversial issues.
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain, analyse and interpret data to produce succinct, definitive and well-written persuasive reports.
5. Demonstrated experience in identifying and embracing opportunities for change that provide strategic value in an environment of continuous improvement.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective HSE culture within a large complex organisation.
