Visiting Medical Officer - Cardiology - Zero Hours Reliever

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District is looking for VMOs to join the Cardiology team at the Wollongong & Shellharbour Hospitals on a temporary 12-month appointment.

The primary responsibility for the position is the provision of Cardiac services at Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals and may be varied as agreed with the Director of Medical Services and as approved via the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilitates in ISLHD.

This role will see the Cardiologist proactively:

- Provide cardiac services at Wollongong Hospital and participation in the on-call general (and interventional, if appropriate) cardiology roster (including call backs for pacing wires, pericardiocentesis, urgent echocardiography).
- Undertake inpatient and outpatient work, including procedural lists, as requested by the Director of Cardiology.
- Provide assistance to the Director of Cardiology by undertaking on-call and clinical duties on his behalf.
- Undertake clinical duties in a professional, timely, and responsible manner.
- Professionally responsible for direct patient care (including inpatients, outpatients, and consultations).
- Provide clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate and post graduate medical staff.
- Ensure efficient and effective communication with the patient's other health care providers, and family/carers.
- Support and participate in cardiology services at Shellharbour Hospital.

ISLHD is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 across eight hospital sites and community health services.
