As our DC Officer, you’ll be responsible for the control and operation of the entire 1500V DC Traction Power System, ensuring the continuity of supply for passenger services on the electrified metropolitan rail network, as defined by the Organisational Policies and Procedures and the Victorian Traction Industry Electrical Safety Rules (The Orange Book).

When being responsible to the Electrical Systems Officer for monitoring the day-to-day functions of the 1500V traction power supply system, this position’s main focus is to ensure that the safety of staff, the public and equipment is always maintained.

**Responsibilities include**:
- Monitor all switching procedures and the operation of in-field traction substation apparatus as required for the energising/de-energising of the DC system and isolation of specific sections within the system to provide for fault reparations and the sequencing of switching operations for the restoration of traction power supplies.-
- Determine and authorise access by maintenance/construction staff to operate substation equipment and other facilities in connection with the 1500V DC traction system.-
- Recognise DC circuit and Rectifier circuit breakers have opened through fault or overload condition, assess the situation, and if safe to do so re-close the relevant circuit breakers by remote control from Electrol.-
- Investigate and report on the occurrence of DC faults which may reveal a variety of causes.-
- Accurately log DC System Switching operations, faults and abnormalities.-
- Prepare reports on the operation of the 1500V DC system, including aspects of the DC system's operation that may disturb the electrolysis mitigation equipment.-
- Control and authorise the Issue of Access Authorities including Access Permits, Testing Permits, Work Permits and Switching Certificates etc. for work to be carried out on/in the vicinity of any 1500V DC traction and Electrolysis equipment.-
- Assist training staff in electrical operations/preparation of electrical operating instructions.-
- Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, such as OH&S, Rail Safety, Quality Assurance and the Freight Australia Electrol Inter-operator Agreement.**About you**:
- Authorised High Voltage Operator skills.-
- Recognised Electrical Tradesperson, Technician.-
- Diploma of ESI or higher desirable.-
- Have experience in the Electrol System Control Centre or similar environments.Ability to produce accurate and comprehensive reports.-
- First Aid Level 2 - preferred.-
- Extensive knowledge of The Victorian Traction Industry Electrical Safety Rules.**Ready to apply? Great**
