Maxima, in partnership with the City of Burnside, have an opportunity for a hands-on individual to kick-start their career within horticulture.

The City of Burnside, located within the leafy Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide, is one of Adelaide’s oldest yet most sought-after council areas. With streets lined with green parks, period architecture and modern community facilities, this council has it all and could be your next working environment.

This 3-year, fulltime traineeship will offer you paid industry experience, allowing you to get your hands dirty, and allocated study time towards achieving a nationally recognised **Certificate III in Horticulture.**

This role is extremely diverse and will see you working across various sites to build lifelong skills and knowledge to succeed in any gardening role upon completion.

**Culture and Benefits**:

**Duties Include**:

- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Mulch, prune, pot, and water plants
- Use of garden tools and machinery
- Brush cutting and mowing
- Pest and weed control
- Install irrigation pipes and watering systems

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Enjoy working outdoors and with garden tools
- Be committed, reliable and hardworking
- Manage and prioritise time when working under pressure
- Work effectively in a team and unsupervised
- Good communication skills
- Have a can-do attitude, displaying initiative on the job

**Role Requirements**:

- Provisional or full driver’s licence with own vehicle
- Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
- Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test
- Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or similar trade (desirable)
