**The Opportunity**:

- Lithgow City Council _has an exciting opportunity for a Resource Recovery Operator (6-month Term Contact) to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.

Reporting to the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating site plant and equipment to provide an effective landfill and resource recovery service to the community. Undertake customer service, load inspection and resource recovery activities, work within and contribute to a multi-skilled team that promotes council's service image by providing courteous, responsive and effective customer service.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

- Operate site plant and equipment including, but not limited to, waste compactor, track loader, wheeled loader, excavator and water cart
- Screen customers and loads to ensure only authorised waste is delivered to site and customers are charged at the appropriate rate
- Direct traffic to appropriate areas of the site dependent on load type
- Separate recoverable materials into stockpiles and ensure stockpiles are managed in a safe and effective manner
- Site housekeeping including litter collection and keeping resource recovery areas tidy
- Undertake minor maintenance and care of plant and equipment
- Undertake relief work where required at the gatehouse
- Open and/or close the site as necessary

**About you**:

- Experience in landfill and resource recovery operations or similar
- Competency in the operation of heavy plant including waste compactor, track loader, wheeled loader, excavator or similar
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Sound communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service
- Demonstrated understanding of Work Health & Safety and Risk Management Responsibilities
- Willingness to undertake additional training
- Demonstrated commitment to honesty and integrity
- Sense of civic pride/environmental responsibility
- Class HR drivers licence
- Asbestos Awareness Training
- Understanding of environmental issues and the role that a waste facility holds within the community.
- First Aid Certificate
