**About the Sector Workforce Strategy Directorate**

Sector Workforce Strategy is one of five Directorates in the ECO Division. The Directorate’s purpose is to attract, retain, grow and develop an engaged and valued Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) workforce delivering high quality services for children and families in NSW.

Recently established and growing quickly, the Directorate has an ambitious forward program of work. We aim to work in partnership with the early childhood sector to ensure that children and families in NSW can access quality early childhood education and care.

**About the Opportunity**

The two Managers within the SWS Directorate manage/lead small teams responsible for developing and implementing critical workforce projects to support the early childhood sector. Bringing your project management and workforce experience you will be empowered to lead and undertake research, analysis, design and implement complex workforce policy and reforms which aim to attract and retain an engaged ECEC workforce delivering high quality services for children and families in NSW. Both roles will be required to liaise extensively across the Department of Education, NSW, state and commonwealth government agencies, non-government organisations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups, regional communities and the private sector.

**To be successful in the roles, you will have**:

- Previous government experience (local, state, or federal), including understanding of government processes.
- Demonstrated experience in research, analysis, advice, design and delivery of workforce initiatives and projects.
- Experience in one or more strategic workforce/HR program areas, including strategic workforce planning, staff engagement, capability and skills frameworks, recruitment and retention, career pathways, workforce data, analytics and insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences, including external stakeholders and senior executive.
- Experience in leading high performing teams.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Courage to challenge the status quo and seek and share innovative ideas.
- Interested in driving reform in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector at both state and federal level.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
- A valid Working with Children Check for paid employment or ability to obtain a paid one.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
