Assistant Manager

**The role**:
Join Tassal as Assistant Manager at our Rookwood Salmon Hatchery where you'll drive operational excellence while delivering key biological outcomes. Supporting the Hatchery Manager, you'll lead a team of 15+ to achieve strategic targets, maintain our license to operate, and foster relationships across freshwater operations and the community.

This full-time role combines hands-on leadership with strategic planning, requiring flexibility for overnight rosters and the occasional weekend.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervise hatchery and farm activities, including feed ordering, record-keeping, and salmon stock management.
- Mentor staff, delegate tasks, and step up in the Manager’s absence.
- Optimise flow-through, RAS, and incubation systems for peak performance.
- Uphold Tassal’s safety-first culture and regulatory standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet targets.
- Use Microsoft Office and other tools to track and report on operations.

**Role requirements**:

- Extensive aquaculture hatchery background with a minimum of 2 years in a Team Leader/Supervisor (or higher) role.
- Proficiency in flow-through/RAS systems, stock management, and hatchery protocols.
- Confidence guiding teams and making decisions in the Manager’s absence.
- Passion for fostering a zero-harm workplace.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, data systems).
- Willingness for overnight shifts and occasional weekends.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Driver’s licence.
