**About the role**:
The Aboriginal Family Engagement Manager reports to the Court's Principal Registrar.
The purpose of the role is to improve the court experience for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, friends and community as they navigate the coronial death investigation process. It does this by supporting families, providing expert advice to coroners to ensure a culturally responsive approach to their investigations and by partnering with others to strengthen prevention opportunities and drive positive change within communities.
The Aboriginal Family Engagement Manager is responsible for:
- Leading the Aboriginal Engagement team to strengthen collaborative ways of working, guide professional development, and support the wellbeing of team members.
- Coordinating and delivering culturally safe, responsive and needs-based bereavement support and information on the coronial process to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Developing, monitoring, and evaluating case management practices to ensure consistency, appropriate case allocation, compliance, responsiveness, and the identification of practice improvements.
- Promoting cultural competency across the Coroners Court through awareness and advice to create a workplace that embraces diversity and supports inclusion through mutual respect, shared understanding and experiences.
- Fostering supportive and collaborative partnerships across a wide range of stakeholder groups.

You will also possess:
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.
- A sound understanding of the principles of cultural safety and demonstrated ability to effect culturally safe practice.
- The ability to translate complex information to provide written reports and recommendations that are highly influential in decision making.
- The ability to effectively collaborate, partner and support a wide range of stakeholder groups.
