**About the Team**

Located in Redbank and Melbourne, the System Safety team is responsible for making sure that RDA’s products are safe and legally compliant. We are contributing to some of the most exciting development programs happening in the Land and Maritime Defence domains in Australia

**About the Role**

The System Safety Manager is responsible for assuring the safety and conformance with legislation of products provided by Rheinmetall Defence Australia.
- As the
- **System Safety Manager**, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

- Responsibility for Product Safety as delegated by company management, including escalation of RDA Product Safety matters as required;
- Leadership and governance of Product Safety for RDA development programs, assuring compliance with RDA Product Safety processes and establishment/satisfaction of safety requirements;
- Chair/Participate RDA Product/System Safety Committee(s) as required;
- Contribute to RDA-wide Product Safety Management System, Policies and processes including project effort estimates for product safety;
- Approval for release of RDA Safety artefacts (System Safety Program Plans and Safety Case Reports etc); and
- Leadership and management of project safety team.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering recognised by The Institute of Engineers Australia;
- Demonstrated experience in military vehicle or automotive Safety Engineering;
- Previous experience in an Engineering Assurance Department or Safety Committee Chair role or as safety lead for Prime in an international program;
- Experience in safety standards and norms across multiple Defence domains to include MIL-STD-882 and IEC61508;
- Previous experience liaising with National Authorities and international customers;
- Experience in the development / review / management of Defence Product Safety Cases and design justifications;
- Technical knowledge of weapons, sensors, C4I and combat systems within a defence domain;
- Experience in the regulatory certification of Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions, and Explosives (NATO/National level);
- Must currently hold or be eligible to gain the appropriate Australian Security Clearance; and
- Ability to travel interstate and / or internationally when required.
