**Position Information**:
Karabar High School is a partially Selective High school on Ngambri and Ngunnawal lands in Queanbeyan, in the border region of NSW and the ACT.

The school has a current enrolment of 1045 students in years 7-12, including 9% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 8% English as an additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).

Karabar High School is committed to high expectations and opportunities for all. The school provides an inclusive and supportive environment that allows each student to develop to their potential with an academically selective stream Years 7-10, a Performing Arts stream in Stage 4 and six special education classes (MC, IM and Tutorial).

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school initiatives that address school and faculty priorities.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build authentic relationships and partnerships within the school community to enhance learning outcomes for students.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and mentor staff at various stages in their professional development to foster quality teaching practices and a culture of high expectations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of innovative, high quality teaching and learning programs which are differentiated and support the learning of students from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
