The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 60 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

Australia’s National Botanic Gardens (ANBG) is the nation’s largest living collection of Australian native plants. It’s a tranquil setting for walking and spending time with family and friends, and a living classroom for visitors of all ages. The Gardens play a significant role in the conservation and propagation of rare and threatened plants. Our biodiversity science programs - the Australian Biological Resources Study, the Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research, the National Seed Bank - and Biodiversity Informatics - are partnerships for research, for management of physical and digital biological collections, and for management of fundamental national biodiversity data and information and are accessed nationally and internationally.

The Visitor Experience team provides visitors with enjoyable, inspirational and educational experiences that enhance understanding and appreciation of Australia's unique flora and landscapes. The team provides a range of experiences for visitors from exhibitions, events, public programs, guided tours and self-guided interpretive trails. The Visitor Experience team is also responsible for tourism marketing, visitor safety and commercial operations such as venue hire and events.

**The Job**
We have an exciting opportunity to lead a team engaging students and community to explore Australia's unique plants and ecosystems in a stunning outdoor classroom. You will be working with a committed and passionate team that deliver education programs and venue hire based at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra.

The job includes:

- championing the Australian National Botanic Gardens Education Strategy
- coordinating the delivery of onsite school programs to over 20,000 students annually, including training and management of a team of education delivery staff
- expanding the reach of education programs through online learning products linked to the Australian Curriculum that explore plant science, conservation and sustainability in an Australian context
- testing and implementing e-commerce solutions to automate education and venues bookings and payment functions supported by the E-Commerce project team
- managing a Venue and Education bookings Officer to ensure smooth booking process and excellent customer service for venue hire clients
- developing engagement and learning activities for families and communities.

As an Education and Learning Coordinator you will:

- provide high level leadership and participate as a member of the Visitor Experience team which includes:

- mentoring and supervising the Education and Booking Officer and a team of casual Education staff to engage with visitors; support their training and development to build capability, skills and capacity
- effective (internal and external) stakeholder engagement
- demonstrating positive change management behaviours
- development of new policies or guidelines which enhance staff services, education outcomes and/or visitor experiences
- develop, implement, market and evaluate:

- innovative onsite and online schools education programs which align with the National Curriculum and Gardens’ Management Plan
- a yearly program of family engagement and learning activities for the Gardens audiences that align with the Gardens’ Management Plan
- the Gardens as a Venue Hire location
- continued implementation of e-commerce automation of education and venue bookings
- the daily operation of education programs and venue hire including online booking database, program and venue set up,
