**Your Opportunity**

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching introductory language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills to adult refugees and migrants using adult learning principles to ensure successful integration into Australian society. This will necessitate an awareness of the adult lives and responsibilities of participants consulting and negotiating with them in a manner respectful of their culture and traumas.

This position will be for 12 months full-time working across a 5-day period each week with 2 days class time dedicated to digital literacy development and 3 days focused on developing literacy, numeracy and conversational skills, job sharing across days can be discussed.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver lessons using strategies suitable for adults that teach participants relevant language, literacy and numeracy skills for everyday life.
- Use and develop digital material that is appropriate for teaching adults the required skills to navigate online platforms required for completing government forms and daily living activities.
- Provide regular and informal opportunities for participants to practice English language and conversation skills.
- Support participants in building networks and developing relationships within the community.
- Conduct reflection exercises with participants regarding course content.

**Selection Criteria**:
**Essential**:

- Demonstrated experience in teaching adult literacy and adult ESL.
- A teaching qualification and/or post-graduate teaching specialist qualification.
- National Police Clearance.
- Working with Children Check.

**Desirable**:

- Previous experience in delivering programs to refugees and migrants.
- Cert IV Training and Assessing (TAE 40110, including TAELLN411 and TAEASS502) or TAE 40116 or higher-level adult education qualification.
- Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
- Previous experience teaching to refugees or immigrants.
