Delivered by the youth justice service as a discrete program Children's Court Youth Diversion (CCYD) has a critical interface with the Youth Justice Court Advice Service. CCYD ensures consistent and equitable access to diversion for eligible young Victorians early in their contact with the Children's Court.
**About the role**:
- As a CCYD Coordinator, you will ensures children and young people before the Children's Court of Victoria are supported to access and complete youth diversion. You will liaise with a range of stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive assessment for diversion suitability and strengthen young people's existing relationships and interests to promote positive change.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Provide authoritative advice, information and reports to stakeholders and advocate on behalf of the young person, as appropriate.
- Undertake evidence-based assessment in relation a young person's eligibility for the CCYD
- Provide short term case coordination and facilitate brief interventions for young people with complex needs
- Collect and analyse data that informs current and future policy development and service delivery
- Please note this role requires travel to multiple locations across the North West Metro Region including Broadmeadows, Sunshine and Melbourne CBD.
**About you**:
- Advanced understanding of the criminal justice system as it relates to young people, and services available to young people.
- Understanding of the principles of diversion and case work and a range of assessment and brief interventions
- An in-depth knowledge of restorative justice would be beneficial.
- Establishes trust with others, gathers information and develops persuasive arguments based on facts
- demonstrates an interest in and an appreciation of a range of different cultures and actively seeks to understand and effectively address the issues and views of others
