**About you**

Do you have a passion for travelling and traversing a 4WD in rugged and remote terrain? Do you have experience in road, track and Point of Interest (POI) field data capture and validating data using advanced GIS tools? Do you enjoy organising and planning itineraries for field trips? Do you have at least 2-3 years experience in using advanced GIS tools to edit, create and analyse road and track data? If so, then this job is for you and we would like to hear from you.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our thriving team in a full-time capacity as our Fieldwork Administrator and GIS Officer based in Brisbane.

**Your role responsibilities**
- Plan and organise our field data capture trips
- Manage our 4WD fleet and field work equipment
- Travel in regional and remote areas to collect road and track data for an extended period of time
- Using desktop GIS tools to enhance, update and maintain Hemas core road and POI data that meets Hemas quality criteria
- Extract and validate incoming fieldwork data using advanced GIS tools
- Assist in digitising, editing and the maintenance of road and track data
- Assist in the design, maintenance and manipulation of the central GIS database environments
- Assist in the formulation and introduction of efficient workflow and process guided by industry best practice
- Work directly with the GIS and Cartography team to help improve the underlying core data
- Evaluate and quality check road data sets for display suitability and data quality and its consistency
- Provide feedback or requirements to improve road data update processes
- Work closely with the GIS and Cartography team to provide the latest and most up-to-date road data ready for print and digital map production

**Required skills for this role**

Mandatory
- Relevant Degree in Environmental or Spatial Sciences or a related discipline
- Proven technical experience in Esri ArcPro/ArcMap or QGIS to digitise and update line data
- Mechanical aptitude, particularly towards 4WDs
- Experience in traversing a 4WD in rugged terrain in regional and Outback Australia
- Manual drivers licence

**Highly Desirable**
- Experience working with Esri ArcPro/ArcMap or QGISs data edit tools
- Experience working with a variety of spatial datasets, including (but not limited to) road networks and Points of Interest (POI)
- Valid 1st aid and remote 1st aid certificate

**Desirable**
- Experience using ESRI Model Builder and/or FME Desktop as a spatial ETL tool
- Experience using ArcGIS Online to setup web apps and tools for 3rd parties
- Proficiency with at least one meaningful programming language (Python preferred)
- Advanced 4wd and recovery training certificate (less than 2 years old)
