**The Department**

The Surgical Services Program delivers the majority of surgical services across all Alfred Health sites. The program consists of surgical units, anesthesia and perioperative medicine, operating suite service, surgical inpatient wards, a medical day unit, day of surgery admissions, day surgery and endoscopy service. The program also oversees the elective surgery waiting list, and medical elective waiting list.

**The Role**

The Alfred Operating Suite Manager is a key leadership position within Alfred Health. The role is pivotal in the provision of leadership and ongoing strategic service development for both the Alfred Main Operating Suite and Alfred Centre Operating Suite, ensuring achievement of its clinical, operational and academic objectives. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of programs to complement and innovate new as well as existing services.

The Alfred Operating Suite Manager will manage and oversee the clinical nurse managers of both Alfred Main and Alfred Centre Theatres, as well as the Clinical Support and Development nurses and Theatre Technicians. They will operationalize the core values of Nursing at Alfred Health by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients and staff.

**Qualifications & Experience Required**
- Current Registered Nurse Division 1 registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with relevant experience or tertiary qualifications
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills including:

- Ability to lead and manage change
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to motivate individuals and groups to achieve shared goals
- Demonstrated ability to work with people to problem solve in a solution focused manner
- Ability to work effectively and provide support to nursing staff, senior medical staff, a range of other health professionals and support service staff
- Makes rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of the facts and alternatives
- Identifies information and resources required for others to work effectively and makes sure their practical needs are met
- Establishes and maintain relationships with people at all levels
- Cooperates and works well with others in the pursuit of team goals, collaborates, shares information and encourages resolution of conflict within the group
- Listens to customers, actively seeks to meet customer needs, seeks ways to improve services and committed to delivering high quality outcomes for clients
- Sound knowledge, skills and experience in working in the Emergency environment
- Demonstrate understanding of ACHS accreditation process
- High level organisational and time management skills
- Open to new approaches or initiatives and prepared to try new ways of working
- Fosters teamwork and builds team spirit by role modelling team behaviours
- An understanding and willingness to embrace Information Technology
