**Position Information**:
Sydney Secondary College Blackwattle Bay is the senior campus of Sydney Secondary College, which also comprises Balmain and Leichhardt junior campuses. The campus is located on the foreshore in Glebe and offers a diverse curriculum to approximately 790 students. The student population includes an academically selective stream, international students, students in the Support Unit with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and autism and a small Aboriginal student population. The curriculum supports students transitioning to university (approximately 85%) and vocational pathways. The school has strong partnerships with parents, local businesses, universities, TAFE and community groups that support student transition. The school is committed to continually improving student learning outcomes through explicit teacher professional learning, linked to the school plan. Improvement strategies include Quality Teaching Rounds (QTR), HSC High Leverage Strategies and Quality Feedback.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Aproval to teach 7-12 mathematics and demonstrated ability to teach Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2.
- Demonstrated capacity to inspire, develop and lead a very experienced staff through strong faculty leadership with a focus on evidence-informed, high impact professional learning and reflective teaching practices to promote high quality teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated evidence of outstanding teaching with the ability to create a culture of high expectations to develop, lead and manage innovative initiatives to extend, enrich and engage all mathematics students, including HPGE and underachievers.
- Capacity to analyse data and work collaboratively with the executive team to lead innovative initiatives that support the implementation of the Strategic Improvement Plan and the attainment of school targets.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
