In support of the growing needs of our diverse local community, Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) cares for more than 100,000 children per year, providing care across the continuum of paediatric services from birth to 18 years of age.? It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Australia and one of only two tertiary paediatric hospitals in Victoria.
MCH is co-located next to Monash Medical Centre in Clayton and is a purpose-built paediatric facility and includes Reef Unit, home to the Children’s Cancer Centre, our day oncology unit. The centre provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary model of care to children and young people with cancer and haematological conditions. Reef Unit cares for approximately 30% of Victoria’s childhood cancer patients with state of the art facilities including 9 dedicated cancer inpatient beds and a comprehensive, multidisciplinary outpatient service with 12-day treatment beds.
**A Day in the Life**:
Being part of this established team, you will support the administration required to run paediatric oncology services safely and efficiently at Monash Children's Hospital. With a caring and engaging manner, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary team to provide the best patient and family centred care. Working under the delegation of the Nurse Unit Manager you will have responsibility for maintaining excellent service delivery by improving the patient experience.
Amongst other tasks, key responsibilities will include:
- Management of patient information
- Booking outpatient appointments
- Ordering and management of medical/surgical consumables
- Booking patient transport
In this permanent ongoing role you will work 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Reef Unit is open from 8am to 6.30pm and as such the team of Ward Clerks are expected work various times, to ensure shift coverage. Your availability to meet this requirement is key to the provision of the service to our patients and their families.
**What You Bring**:
- Experience in a similar role and familiarity with hospital IT systems such as IPM (highly regarded)
- Completion of Medical Terminology Course (highly regarded)
