- Maximise your future with our 17% Superannuation contribution.

- Opportunity to build and lead a new national centre creating new approaches to addressing the health and care sector’s most challenging, systemic problem - workforce supply and sustainability.
- Be part of a multi-disciplinary, cutting-edge and world-leading team through Australia’s national university.

**Position overview**

The College of Health and Medicine (CHM) comprises the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, School of Medicine and Psychology, and the John Curtin School of Medical Research. In health and medicine, we are proud of our standing, our history and our achievements.

TRANSFORM is the CHM's 10-year strategy plan worth $29million. Crediting the transformational initiatives undertaken in the College focusing on prestige and advancement, CHM has established the National Centre for Health Workforce Studies (NCHWS). ANU is seeking to appoint the first Director to lead the NCHWS. This is a unique start-up opportunity to build a new national academic capability in health workforce research, data, surveillance, modelling, and intelligence; develop and deliver accredited post-graduate programs from Diploma through to PhD; and build government, higher education and industry partnerships to deliver rigor and excellence in planning, research and development of the nation's health and care workforce.

The initial focus of NCHWS will be to build advanced health and care workforce planning tools and models for governments and industry. This will be achieved by leveraging the foundation work of the University’s Health Data and Analytics Team (HDAT) to make better use of a range of national, jurisdictional and regional data sets to better inform supply and demand modelling and through a range of government and industry partnerships address the workforce planning and development needs of partners.

**The person**

The successful applicant will be the inaugural Director and lead the centre. The NCHWS will partner with governments, industry, research and higher education sectors to deliver research, intelligence and post-graduate training solutions to the health and care sector’s most challenging problem - supply and sustainability of its essential, skilled labour force. The NCHWS will leverage the ANU’s nation leading capabilities in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, public policy, health services research and data sciences to progress strategic projects of importance to government, industry, higher education and the community.

The Director will be a leader in building relationships and capability needed to establish a new national centre. They will undertake engagement with internal and external stakeholders to bring together ANU cross-disciplinary expertise and link them to policy-making and service delivery government agencies - Commonwealth, State and Territory - and health and care industry providers - to help them address the challenges of workforce planning, supply and development for the nation’s health and care sector.

ANU values diversity and inclusion and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to those of all backgrounds and identities.
