The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Corrections Intelligence Analyst to provide a critical role within Metropolitan Remand Centre.

About the business unit
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.
The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Community Safety.
About the role
The position of Corrections Intelligence Analyst, Metropolitan Remand Centre, (MRC), will be responsible for gathering, recording, analysing and disseminating information, to identify potential prisoner incidents/unrest, prevent prisoner escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within the prison.
This position reports to the Supervisor, Prison Intelligence Unit, MRC, and will contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised persons/external agencies as required.
This position supports prison management in maintaining the security, good order and management of prison facility.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Lead the collation, analysis, and controlled dissemination and reporting of intelligence information to authorised parties, in a timely manner.
- Prepare and present intelligence briefings, and make high quality recommendations, in respect of the analysis of intelligence data, including the identification and evaluation of emerging threats, opportunities, patterns and trends relating to the activities within MRC which affect the security and good order of the prison.
- Support prison management, staff and external agencies in the development and planning of intelligence-led prison operations.
- Develop systems to facilitate more effective and efficient information collection, recording, analysis and dissemination of intelligence information within Corrections Victoria and to its stakeholders.
- Provide a technical resource for managers through the provision of tactical advice and systems expertise, and provide leadership, guidance and assistance to less experienced intelligence staff.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of leading-edge intelligence practices, policies and procedures.

About you

**To be successful in this role, you will**:

- Have knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 1998 and other relevant legislation.
- Have experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems, preferably Palantir, and/or other information management systems.
