Manager, Derivatives Operations

**Role Summary**

As the **Manager**, you will be responsible for managing a team of Operational Subject Matter Experts supporting Over the Counter Derivatives, Exchange-traded Derivatives, Collateral, and Derivatives Valuations. This team works closely with both off-shore operational partners and Australia-based Client Service Managers to answer complex client queries and expedite the resolution of time sensitive operational issues. You will be required to conduct performance management and career development processes, providing input for staffing and disciplinary actions, and provides hands-on training to the team.

This role will report to Head of Derivatives Client Engagement, APAC.

**What you will do**
- Ensure operational risk is inherently reduced and any potential risk situations are promptly identified and escalated
- Ensure the team is connected to the respective Operational Business units staying apprised of operational enhancements and changes to processes
- Ensure derivative trading activities are efficiently supported and ensure seamless day-to-day management
- Assist staff with technical queries and provide coaching in the research and resolution of complex issues
- Ensure a culture of continuous improvement exists throughout the team, encouraging staff to identify ways to improve straight-through processing and implement best market practice. Participate in system enhancement projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation
- Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function
- Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult
- Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities
- Conducts performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff
- Develops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work

**About You**
- Proven experience in financial service operations is preferred. Related derivatives experience along with understanding of complex products such as OTC and listed IRS and commodity derivatives, listed equities, various credit products, total return swaps, foreign exchange and interest rate products both bi-lateral and cleared is highly recommended
- Knowledge in derivatives products
- Prior management of a team including responsibility for recruiting, coaching, and performance reviews
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set
- Ability to lead and inspire a team
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise multiple deliverables and work with minimum supervision.
- Establish strong working relations with internal and external stakeholders
- Actively participate on exception management discussions
- Proactively liase with global managers to maintain centralised operating model
- College degree preferred in Finance, Economics or applied sciences, and/or relevant proven work experience is required
