**Why your role matters**:
As the Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow you will be embedded within a creative and cutting-edge social research program. Based with the Centre for Social Research in Health, you will work with an interdisciplinary team of academic investigators on the Australian Research Council Discovery Project “Mapping Australian Homemade, Amateur & Do-it-Yourself Cultural Economies”. This project reveals the ignored space and agency of the homemade, amateur and DIY (HADIY) that sits between the publicly-funded and commercial spheres of cultural and creative industries. Expected outcomes include new understanding of HADIY creatives and the contexts in which their activities take place, the role of HADIY creativity in the wider cultural economy, and the function of everyday creativity in building contemporary community.
The role of Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to the UNSW Research Lead Dr Ash Watson and has no direct reports.
This position located at the vibrant UNSW Kensington Campus is being offered part time for 2 years.
**A**ccountabilities include**
- Contribute independently or as a team member in collaborative research to deliver the project and enhance the quality of research outcomes;
- Conduct, enable and support the creation of scholarly outputs that are recognised by peers;
- Maintain high levels of organisation and planning to deliver research, outputs and engagement activities.
**About you**
Your skills and experience include**:
- A recent PhD (or near completion PhD) in Sociology, Cultural Studies, Communications, Creative Arts/Industries or a closely related discipline.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality empirical research with limited supervision, including experience with qualitative research methods (semi-structured interviews and/or ethnography, focus groups, workshops).
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic analysis using appropriate methods, such as thematic analysis or other techniques, and relevant knowledge and expertise in theory-driven approaches to qualitative analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering outputs in a timely manner and a track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
