Sydney, Australia Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) Full time

Join the team responsible for providing expert advice on climate risk to support APRA’s policy and supervision activities across the banking, superannuation and insurance sectors
- Play a key role in ensuring regulated entities manage the financial risks of a changing climate
- Join a genuinely flexible, family friendly and inclusive culture, with a hybrid work model

Climate change presents financial risks, as well as provides for new business opportunities, to all APRA-regulated entities. In response, APRA seeks to increase industry resilience to climate risk, and to ensure effective action is taken to manage these risks.
The Climate Risk team provides expert advice on the management of climate change financial risks, spanning three areas: core activities including support to APRA supervisors, domestic and international engagement; industry initiatives to support understanding and assessment of climate risk; and quantitative climate risk analysis. Its key focus areas are the understanding, governance, management and disclosure of these risks by APRA-regulated institutions.

**We’re looking for experienced analysts to join the team, where you will**:

- Play a key role in contributing to APRA’s supervisory and regulatory activities in climate risk, assessing and influencing the climate risk policies and practices of APRA-regulated institutions
- Promote best practice on climate risk within the industries APRA regulates, working closely with key stakeholders and peer agencies both domestically and internationally
- Represent APRA at international bodies, and coordinate APRA’s response to relevant international work
- Scope and develop APRA’s policy framework in relation to climate risks
- Maintain a professional network within the Australian and international industry, including stakeholders outside APRA’s regulated entities
- Provide internal coordination of APRA governance bodies
- Develop briefing notes and speeches, and synthesise knowledge for senior leaders
- Develop and deliver presentations to a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Lead projects and other ad hoc initiatives, leveraging an aptitude in strategy, critical thinking and innovation

**You are someone with**:

- Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to synthesise large amounts of information and identify emerging risks as they relate to the financial system
- The ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solve while being able to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels of the business, in a professional team environment
- A positive mindset, a willingness to offer new ideas and a fresh perspective, and comfort with analytical and strategic development in an absence of perfect information.
- Prior experience in insurance underwriting, investment, banking & risk, or assessing the financial impact of physical and transition climate risks (beneficial but not essential).
- A passion for making a difference in the regulation of climate risk, and the desire to work in a dedicated team of likeminded professionals in a rapidly evolving area.
