**The Role**
The Security Advisor will contribute to the NCB Mission through a strong focus on knowledge and capability development.
The key responsibilities of the position are:
- Handling security queries that require judgment and interpretation of Defence and whole of government security policy and providing advice on protective security matters.
- Contribute to security compliance, including risk management and mitigation.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of site security policy and procedures.
- Collate research and analyse basic protective security data reports, submissions and briefings.
- Assist with coordination of preparation and maintenance of facility security accreditations as required.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of security training and education.
- Deliver security inductions and briefings as required.
- Shaping a positive security culture and best practice within the shipyard and work environment.
- Support the management of information that is developed, shared and released by the branch via domestic and international agreements in accordance with Defence security policy.
- Responding to security incidents by assessing situations in line with DSPF intent and taking the initiative to implement responses to ensure research security integrity.
**About our Team**
Naval Construction Branch (NCB), based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard has an opportunity for an APS5 Security Advisor to join the team. Operating in an integrated environment comprising of ADF, APS and Defence Industry. The role is accountable, under limited direction to contribute to the development of consistent security processes for NCB. You will assist, undertake and deliver protective security services to support NCB’s Mission by collaborating with other site security teams, to address security vulnerabilities and improve overall security measures in line with the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group’s (NSSG) organisational culture prioritises responsibility, accountability and the Defence values of service, courage, respect, integrity and excellence. - Have experience or the ability to acquire rapidly an understanding of Australian Government and Defence security principles, policies and controls and the role these play in mitigating high-level security risks.
- Be adept at interpreting policy, developing and delivering solutions to security challenges, and advising on critical security issues.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey policy advice with a high level of accuracy.
- Confidently utilise critical thinking to produce best outcomes for the work area, NCB and Defence.
- Actively maintain and seek up-to-date knowledge on Security threats, risk and policy changes. You may be required to travel interstate occasionally.
