The Home and Residential Division is responsible for providing aged care to older Australians in the setting that suits their needs and preferences. It is responsible for the reform work to improve aged care services at home and in residential care. This includes:

- Management of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care (including Residential Respite service referrals). Implementation of the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) funding model for residential care.
- Commissioning a new Single Assessment Service.
- Development, implementation, and the management of efficient, effective, and sustainable funding programs for home and residential care.
