Finance Lead

Your contribution and key accountabilities:
- Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive funding proposals, ensuring alignment with Statutory Bodies Financial Arrangements Act 1982, Financial Accountability Act 2009 and other government financial policies and procedures
- Coordinate with project managers, stakeholders, and government departments to obtain accurate financial data for submissions
- Oversee the process of establishing new banking arrangements in accordance with legal and treasury requirement
- Lead the scoping of a fit-for-purpose finance system suited to the needs of the QAS as a statutory body
- Coordinate closely with IT specialists, system vendors, and department stakeholders to ensure a smooth and effective transition to the new finance management system
- Develop and implement robust financial management practices and procedures that comply with Statutory Bodies Financial Arrangements Act 1982 and Financial Accountability Act 2009
- Provide guidance and oversight on financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, procurement, and asset management processes required as part of the statutory body framework
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide expert financial and operational advice and support relating to the financial aspects of the transition of the QAS to a statutory body
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to embed new financial policies, procedures and systems among QAS staff
- Prepare material for advice, reports, briefing notes, board papers, submissions, funding proposals and general correspondence.
- Provide a safe, and safe environment for QAS supported athletes and any other children and young people engaged with the QAS, free from physical, sexual and emotional abuse or neglect.
- As a member of the QAS team, take shared accountability for setting a high performance culture to enable successful outcomes. This also includes adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards at all times.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service, Public Service Values and departmental policies and positively contribute to a high-performing workplace culture that is respectful, inclusive and safe.
- Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to cultural safety for Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
