As our Substation Manager, you will be responsible for leading the HV Substations team, ensuring substation electrical access, installation, and associated works on the MTM Network.
To succeed in this role you will need to be level-headed to ensure that works are delivered effectively, safely and efficiently by the team, whilst managing a large number of stakeholders associated with various MTM Projects.
You will be expected to build individual and team capability, driving high performance whilst ensuring compliance for all internal processes and regulatory obligations. A key focus will be to uphold our Zero Harm value by prioritizing safety at the highest level.
**This position is based in our Burnley depot working Monday to Friday, with a small requirement to do some nights for site visits for auditing and inspection purposes.**
**Main duties include**:
- Leadership: Manage and develop the HV Substations team to ensure competence levels are satisfying individual development needs, project requirements and regulatory obligations.-
- Project management: Support Projects substation work coordination, forecasting and scheduling to meet project demands.-
- Communication/time management: Ensure plans meet specified standards, are endorsed, and communicated to teams attending sites within the specified timeframes.-
- Financial management: Manage/coordinate additional contract resources to deliver substations works keeping in line with budget, performance, safety, and quality standards.-
- Planning: Design work tasks and resources, maximising time on tools and team output.-
- Stakeholder management: Engage key stakeholders across the team, division and broader organisation ensuring beneficial relationships are developed and maintained.-
- Adhere to internal/external standards such as safety, compliance and 5S processes.-
- Implement processes to drive high performance and team efficiency.**About you**:
- Associate diploma or equivalent in Engineering.-
- Extensive experience leading a large rail project.-
- Qualified First Aid and CPR Certificate.-
- Extensive experience with High Voltage systems, project, resource management and forecasting/reporting tools.-
- Experience in leading a team in a unionised environment.-
- Ability to identify political/industrial constraints and issues affecting the business.-
