We are seeking an experienced **Multicultural Communities Connector** to work at our Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families and children in the Fairfield area and wider community. You have strong background in working with multicultural communities in a health or social services. You will have well established connections with the multicultural communities in the Fairfield area. You are familiar with the needs of the Fairfield local area and are passionate about making an impact. You are empathic, a good communicator and can connect and engage with a variety of stakeholders, and families from different cultural backgrounds.

**AWARD**:Health Education Officer**

**STATUS**:Part-time 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE) until June 2029**

**VACCINATION CATEGORY**: A - (including influenza Vaccinations)

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Responsible to Program Lead System Navigator - Fairfield Child and Family Hub through to Integrated Care Manager

**Purpose of the Role**

The Fairfield integrated child and family hub is a one stop shop for local families with children 0-5 years old to support with a range of health, social and community needs. The Cross-Cultural worker will support Karitane to ensure that co-design initiatives and ongoing program delivery is culturally inclusive and meets the needs and wants of the diverse community of Fairfield. The Cross-Cultural worker will provide navigator support for CALD families accessing the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub, ensuring families are linked with services in a coordinated, stepped model of care that best meets their support need.

**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**

1. Qualifications in social or health sciences, clinical or community services or equivalent.

2. Well established connections with different Multicultural community in the Fairfield area and a good understanding of some of the unique opportunities and challenges in the area.

3. Demonstrated experience working with multicultural communities in health or social services.

4. Effective written and verbal communication skills (including computer skills); interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to work in an inter-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder team to facilitate access to services for children and families (including services provided through NSW Health)

**STATEMENT OF DUTIES**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Provide connection to different multicultural communities**

Fairfield is a culturally diverse area and with many different language and cultural groups. This role will be pivotal in:- Mapping cultural groups- Creating connection with different ethnic and religious groups in the area- Providing guidance on ways of working with particular ethnic and religious groups
- **Support Co-design initiatives in relation to the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub**-
- Provide advice and feedback on different co-design initiatives to ensure they are inclusive and culturally sensitive- Support delivery of parts of the co-design initiatives- Support attendance of different ethnic and religious groups to participate in the co-design
- **Connection and support of families to local services within the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub and externally**-
- Build supportive relationships with families.- Act as an initial point of contact and advocate for the needs of families including expectant parents and families with children aged 0-5 years of age attending the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub.- Provide families with referral pathways as needed and requested, including both within the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub and externally within the community e.g. allied health services, financial support services and assist families by facilitating these referrals.- Follow up with families over time to ensure an ongoing point of contact and the ability to provide further light-touch support as needed.- Provide trauma-informed service delivery using a strengths-based practice approach with families.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

1. Temporary part-time position in accordance with the Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Professional Staff and Associated (AHO) Staff Agreement 2022** **Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan and Regional NSW Areas.

2. The majority of Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.

3. Karitane supports a smoke free environment including grounds, buildings and vehicle
