**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The City Open Spaces team manages the daily presentation and maintenance of Council’s open spaces, sportsgrounds, playgrounds, passive and public spaces, golf courses, botanical gardens and native vegetation areas within the Cumberland City Area, ensuring that our residents and visitors have access to quality and attractive open spaces of which they can be proud and enjoy.
Our Open Spaces team have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic tractor operators to join the team The Team Member - Tractor will undertake a variety of tractor and broad area mowing, maintenance and renovation activities that combined assist in delivering the overall maintenance of Council’s Open Space and ensure that these Open Spaces remain in excellent condition, safe and suitable for use by the community. This role will also assist in ensuring customer and community satisfaction with Councils open space operations are met.
The successful applicant will require:
- Relevant experience and demonstrated understanding of park maintenance and industry best-practice
- Demonstrated experience operating large plant and equipment, including tractor and implements and broad area horticultural spray equipment
- Demonstrated experience undertaking turf renovation works
- Ability to work alone and maintain service schedule to specified standard
- Demonstrated ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other workers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills - ability to write clearly and neatly when completing necessary paperwork
- Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Basic Computer Skills including the use of iPads
- Hold a current ‘ChemCert’ (Chemical Handling) qualification or willing to obtain
- Hold a current General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (white card) or willing to obtain
- Hold a current Class C Drivers Licence.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement.
This role is predominantly located at Council's Guildford Depot, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,121.69 to $1,289.95 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
