**The Role**

We are seeking a visionary and culturally grounded leader to join our organisation as the **Head of Indigenous Affairs - Australia**on a** 2-year maximum term contract**. In this critical role, you will develop and drive culturally inclusive strategies and provide expert advice that is innovative, reflects best practice, and fosters an open, diverse and inclusive environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- In partnership with the Tumuaki Māori/Head of Māori and Equity, provide leadership in developing and executing strategies that achieve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in line with the key priorities of the Indigenous Strategic Framework (ISF).
- Support the growth of cultural competency and safety.
- Provide expert advice to the organisation’s leadership on matters related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, supporting policy development and advocacy that reflects Indigenous perspectives and priorities.
- Oversee the development and the delivery of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Committee and Workplan.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership in developing an Indigenous curriculum that aligns with college goals, integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and knowledge to promote cultural safety and competence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the RACP to ensure relevant, pragmatic advise and solutions, collaborating and guiding the Leadership Team to drive impactful results for Indigenous peoples.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
This is an identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, self-identification, and community recognition. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under **Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997 (NSW).**

To be successful in this role, you will be a respected and experienced leader with a deep commitment to advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. You will bring a blend of cultural knowledge, strategic insight, and operational capability to lead impactful work across health systems and education.

You will also demonstrate the following skills and attributes.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. health services management, public policy) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues, health inequities and colonial trauma and self-determination.
- Experience in the delivery of projects in a health environment and particularly Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health.
- Knowledge and experience with working with the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations sector.
- Highly developed analytical, political judgement and strategic thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to build positive and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage and develop a team, to inspire direction and purpose with a focus on delivering results
