Melba won the 2023 National Disability Award for Excellence in Service Quality. **About the Role**: Melba Support Services are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join a Supported Independent Living home in Sale, Victoria, on a permanent part-time basis. This is a dynamic, sleepover model home supporting 5 adults with high support needs, on a rotating fortnightly roster and a staff-to-resident ration of three. Each individual in this home has their own unique personality, preferences, and care needs - we’re looking for adaptable, resilient team members committed to supporting them to lead fulfilling, independent lives. The people living in this home require specialised support, including manual handling, Stoma care, epilepsy management, and mealtime assistance. Some individuals also present behaviours of concern, which makes this a challenging yet deeply rewarding role. These individuals enjoy a range of activities, from community outings like swimming, walks, and theatre shows, to spending time with family and gardening. Community engagement is central to their lives, and you will play an important part in ensuring they continue to access and enjoy these opportunities. We’re seeking someone who can provide both high-quality practical support and meaningful connection—someone who contributes to a positive, person-centred environment that fosters growth, autonomy, and joy. **Responsibilities**: - Implement support plans based on supported person’s needs, preferences, and interests - Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night - Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments - Promote personal choice and control for the person - Assist with personal care, hygiene and household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and washing - Administer medication **Qualifications and Experience**: - Cert 4 of Disability or equivalent qualification (Highly advantageous) - Experience with complex behaviours - Experience with psychosocial and neurological disabilities preferred - Experience with manual handling - A passion for enabling and working with people - Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support - Willingness to learn new skills, undertake ongoing training - Willingness to work as part of a team **You will also bring with you or be willing to obtain**: - NDIS Worker screening Check - Working with Children Check - Unrestricted Australian Driver’s License - Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status, including booster - Current First Aid Certificate with CPR We can support you through the process of obtaining these if you don’t already have them. **Why Join Us?** - We are a human-rights, values-based, not-for-profit community organisation committed to providing services that support individuals with disability to lead everyday lives of their choice, if this resonates with you, come join us - Join a supportive and collaborative culture where your contributions make a real impact. - Enjoy onsite parking and other benefits. - Access to Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging. **Ready to Make a Difference?** Click "Apply" now and submit your resume.
