**Qualifications & experience**
- Proven experience in support work or similar roles, with a specific emphasis on supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and managing challenging behaviours.
- Experience working with complex behaviours and mental health
- Proficient in personal care tasks, including familiarity with medication processes and knowledge of diabetes management (desirable).
- Current certifications in First Aid and CPR, along with a valid Police Check.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work both collaboratively in a team and autonomously.
**Desirable**
- Qualifications in disability, community services, nursing, and/or aged care are highly regarded.
- Assistant in Nursing (AIN) qualification
- Experience with hoists and other manual handling equipment
- Experience working in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment
**Role Description**
**We are currently seeking Support Workers for a variety of roles, including Community Access, and SIL homes, across the central coast.**
As a Support Worker with My Coast Support, you will be primarily employed to help people live their lives as independently as possible. Your position gives you the opportunity to enable others to reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support.
It is an incredibly diverse and rewarding role as you will be helping vulnerable people to improve their quality of life, achieve their goals and make a very real and positive difference in their lives.
You'll assist with daily routines, community access, medication, personal care, and domestic tasks, while also supporting skill development.
Availability for sleepover shifts and weekend work is a must, with flexibility to work AM and PM shifts.
**Responsibilities**
Your responsibilities are diverse and centred on enabling a fulfilling and more independent life for the individuals we support. They include but are not limited to:
- Emotional support for individuals and their families.
- Assistance with household tasks, daily routines, and teaching life skills like budgeting and bill payments.
- Developing and building confidence, self-esteem, and social skills, including managing challenging behaviours effectively.
- Becoming a role model and companion.
- Professional documentation, including accurate and detailed shift reports, incident reports, and progress notes.
- Promote empowerment and choice for all participants
- Show initiative
All applicants are expected to be available 7days per week on a fortnightly rotating roster. Being available for sleepover shifts and weekends is a must. Shifts are published two weeks prior to the fortnightly roster with 3-4 days off per fortnight unless agreed upon prior.
Flexibility and a strong work ethic are key.
