The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Executive Officer, Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee to provide a critical role in Barwon South West Region.

**_ This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply._**

**About the business unit**

Department of Justice & Community Safety comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.

The Barwon South West Region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Geelong and Warrnambool and at outreach locations across the region. The region also has three prisons in Lara, a medium security facility (Marngoneet Correctional Centre) and two maximum security prisons (Barwon Prison and Western Plains).

**About the role**

The primary focus of the Executive Officer is to support the effective operation of the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (RAJAC) and the Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committee (LAJAC) for the Barwon South West Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and to ensure the active participation and engagement of the Aboriginal community in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA).

Some of your duties will include:

- Provide key support, secretariat services and advice to the RAJAC including the preparation of meeting papers, agenda, venue, catering and minute taking.
- Maintain regular contact with the Chairperson Barwon South West RAJAC to uphold the partnership and implementation of AJA.
- Attend, participate and support the Barwon South West RAJAC Chairperson's participation in AJA related activities including the Aboriginal Justice Forum, Aboriginal Justice Caucus and Collaborative Working Groups.

- A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Aboriginal community.
