Your role at St John of God Social Outreach

You will take a lead role in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based preventions strategies to reduce and prevent AOD related harms at a local and regional level within the South West region. This includes liaising and collaborating with a range of key stakeholders including government and non-government agencies, professionals, community groups and individuals on AOD prevention activities and initiatives.

The Position- Support communities in the South West to prevent the negative impact of AOD use on communities, families and individuals, including:
- Delay (Delaying) the onset of AOD use- Reduce (Reducing) the harm associated with AOD supply and use; and- Improve (Improving) the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and community.- Using community development and capacity building approaches, supports initiatives targeting AOD prevention conducted by key stakeholders and community groups. Including supporting community groups to work at a local level to address identified AOD issues.- Initiates, coordinates and supports the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based AOD prevention activities at a local, community and regional level.- Takes a lead role in the development/review and implementation of Community Wellbeing Plans, AOD Management Plans and Volatile Substance Use plans as required.

You will have a working understanding of public health prevention and experience developing, implementing and evaluating community-based prevention initiatives. Demonstrated experience working with health and community groups on education and health promotion, and a deep knowledge of the effects of AOD on individuals, families and communities in WA.

Successful applicants must hold a tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health or health/social science, ‘C’ class drivers licence, Working with Children’s Certification and National Police Clearance.

We can offer you- Salary: $122,210 to $130,310 plus 11.5% Superannuation- Permanent part-time, working 15 hours per week- Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
