**What You Will Be Doing**

The Consumer Peer Worker role has been developed specifically for people with a personal experience of mental health challenges and recovery to provide holistic support to consumers during their mental health inpatient admission. Peer Workers are empathetic listeners who promote hope, choice and connection in their relationships with others.
Peer Workers work closely with clinical, allied health and other peer work staff. As key members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, Peer Workers share their experience and expertise to ensure care is consumer-led, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed.
Peer Workers employed at Peninsula Health receive professional support, training and supervision to assist them in their role.
This position is advertised at 0.8EFT on a Permanent Basis. For further details about the role please see the attached position description.

**What You Need**

We anticipate you will have:

- A personal experience of mental health challenges and recovery
- A recognition and understanding of your own experiences and ability to use this to support 2 West residents and the work of the multi-disciplinary team
- The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with residents, family/carers, staff and other service providers
- An understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and family/carer inclusive practice
